The honorees were selected by a committee of volunteers as “Good Scouts” for their outstanding community service as evidenced by the interest and leadership given to many worthwhile organizations as well as the respect and esteem in which they are held by their colleagues. The Kowalsky Family of Westport are owners of a second generation contracting business that was started in 1945. Collectively, they have been active in supporting various town causes including Staples High School fundraisers, the Memorial Day Parade and youth sports. Kowalsky Field on Compo Road was built and donated to the town by a family member. Tom Kowalsky is a leader in a Stratford troop where he serves as Charter Organization Reppresentative. His two sons have been Boy Scouts—one achieving Eagle rank. The two Westport Eagle Scouts to be honored are Greg Carl, Senior Patrol Leader of Troop 36, and Berry, Troop 100. Jess DiPasquale is President/CEO of Alliance Group Services, Inc., a nationwide telecommunications company. He serves on the Weston Police Commission and is also active in Kiwanis, Boosters Club, Weston Historical Society (Founder’s Circle), Republican Town Committee, and Legatus (President of the Fairfield Chapter.) His sons were involved in Cub Scouts. Connor Mulcahey, son of Carolyn Armbruster, has logged many hours of community service on his way to Eagle Scout. He has also served as Troop 788 senior patrol leader. Past honorees have included Hon. Christopher Shays, former Weston First Selectman Woody Bliss, Terex CEO Ron DeFao, and Robert Rose, founder of the event.
