Family Y Water Rat Swimmers Shine in Connecticut YMCA Championships

The Westport Weston Family Y Water Rat Swim Team competed this past weekend, Feb. 23-24, in the 12&Under division of the Connecticut YMCA Swimming and Diving Championships. The meet was held at East Hartford High School in East Hartford, CT.

Out of the 10 YMCA teams represented, the Water Rats had an impressive showing.  The 8&Under Girls finished second overall. The 9-10 Girls finished fourth, the 11-12 Boys also finished fourth, 8&Under Boys were sixth, and the 11-12 Girls finished in seventh place. The 9-10 Boys won their age group, taking first place.

The Water Rat’s championship season continues with a series of upcoming swim meets, including the Connecticut Age Group Swimming Championship, held at Wesleyan University, March 7-10; the Eastern Zone Championships in Webster, N.Y., March 28-30; and the YMCA Short Course Nationals, taking place Apr. 3-6 in Greensboro, N.C.
