JJoin us for DNKL's 16th Annual Animal Blessing on Saturday, September 12, from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Everyone is welcome to attend this special community event celebrating the love, companionship, and joy that animals bring to our lives.
Bring your pets—or a photo of an animal unable to attend—for an individual blessing by our resident Tibetan Buddhist monks. Whether your companion is furry, feathered, scaled, or hoofed, all animals are welcome. The Blessing of the Animals will take place from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM.
Held in our beautiful upper field overlooking more than 100 acres of peaceful countryside, the afternoon offers something for everyone. Meet friendly farm animals including goats, horses, and more; visit local animal rescue organizations, local vendors, an animal artist, an animal naturalist, and other community exhibitors; browse our Tibetan craft shop; and enjoy a special guest speaker Lisa Miskella Founder/Executive Director of <a href="https://freedomfarmanimalsanctuary.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Freedom Farm Animal Sanctuary</a>. The Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Westport

Please join the Rev. Terri Dennehy and our UU&nbsp;Westport community as we formally kick-off our congregational year. All are always welcome. This Sunday&nbsp;will be a multi-generational service, so children are invited to stay in the sanctuary with their parents or caregivers. Adult-supervised nursery care (0-preK) is available.&nbsp; As Rev Terri shares:&nbsp;"We begin our congregational year with rituals of heritage and belonging, while also looking with hope to the year ahead. Let us gather once more in community to honor our past and envision our shared future." +++ All are always welcome to our Unitarian Universalist services at UU Westport, offered each Sunday at 10 AM, both in person and&nbsp;<a href="https://uuwestport.org/livestream/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">live-streamed online</a>. Services usually include a time of reflection/prayer/meditation; wonderful music; readings; and a homily or sermon to lend insight into our world and how we interact with it and with each other. 
The <a href="https://uuwestport.org/mission-statement/about-our-ministers-2/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Rev. Terri Dennehy</a> presides over our time together that includes participation from multiple congregants, guests, and friends. Music Director&nbsp;<a href="https://uuwestport.org/music-program/our-minister-of-music/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Micah Krajca</a>&nbsp;leads our choirs. Separate children's programming and nursery care is usually available during the service, 10-11:15AM, although this Sunday (9/13) the children are invited to stay in the sanctuary with their parents for this special multi-generational service. Nursery care (ages 0- preK) is always available. Dress code is as you feel comfortable.

We feel it is imperative that every dancer be given a strong technical foundation by utilizing proper terminology, training and anatomical understanding. RDC encourages artistry in a supportive and nurturing environment; we believe in recognizing and appreciating the individual strengths of each dancer. Our goal is to offer varied performance opportunitieswhile giving back and sharing with our community. Since 2017 RDC has given out $836,586 to our students on both a talent and need basis.Our faculty is educated, nurturing and inspiring!
Our studio located in Trumbull, Connecticut, has 12,150 square feet of space. It is
comprised of 6 dance studios (all with sprung flooring and professional audio systems), a black box theater, lounge, kitchen and homework area, company locker room, and a
costume shop – all in one convenient location with easy access to I-95, the 25 Connector, Merritt Parkway, Route 8 – a quick and easy commute from almost anywhere in Fairfield County and New Haven County. We are just minutes from the Trumbull Mall, and located just across the street are Planet Fitness, Tennis, Gymnastics and a Sports Center.

On Monday, September 14, 2026 Humanists and Freethinkers of Fairfield County (HFFC) will feature
the Fairfield Country Rep of the American Civil Liberties Union of Connecticut, Amber Vlangas, who will discuss the ongoing national attack on voting rights and how CT residents can help. &nbsp;She can also discuss other current issues on ACLU CT’s radar, including privacy, immigrant rights and protections for the right to demonstrate. 

Amber Vlangas is a civil liberties activist who has served as the Fairfield County Engagement Officer with the ACLU CT for nearly five years. After serving in the United States Marine Corps and earning her B.A. in Visual and Public Communication, Amber has spent more than 25 years in nonprofit outreach, organizing, and resource development. She currently serves on the steering committees and leadership teams of several national groups and co-hosts the podcast Amplified Voices.

The ACLU of Connecticut defends, promotes, and expands the civil rights and civil liberties of all people in Connecticut through litigation, community organizing and legislative advocacy, and civic education and engagement. Organized in 1948, it is an inclusive, non-partisan, and statewide organization within the nationwide American Civil Liberties Union network. 

This meeting is free and open to all.&nbsp;&nbsp;Join us in Wilton for the presentation and the social gathering beforehand.&nbsp; (We will supply the address after you register.) Gourmet pizza and refreshments will be served from 6:15-7:00 PM.&nbsp;The presentation will start at 7:00. &nbsp;We will also be recording and broadcasting this meeting virtually via Zoom for anyone who is unable to join us in person; check in is at 6:45.&nbsp;

The Jay Heritage Center in Rye, New York will celebrate America at 250 with a toast to Jay Medal honorees Pulitzer Prize-winning author Annette Gordon-Reed, the Carl M. Loeb University Professor at Harvard University and award-winning Lincoln historian Harold Holzer.
The Jay Medal for Service was created in 2012 to recognize individuals who demonstrate a selfless spirit of commitment to and engagement with their community mirroring the multifaceted contributions of John Jay and his descendants. These honorees have demonstrated through their life's work that our shared narratives as a country, complicated as they are, can be better illuminated through the highest caliber of ongoing scholarship and advocacy. Honorees are selected for their excellence in the fields of American history, environmental stewardship, social justice or civic engagement.
Joining the celebration will be Chief Judge of the State of New York and the New York Court of Appeals, Honorable Rowan D. Wilson and historian and philanthropist Elihu Rose who will present the awards at JHC's annual Soirée. Special guests will include David Blight, Frank Cogliano, Joanne Freeman, and Beverly Gage.

The Jay Medal Soirée will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the Jay Estate from 5:30-9:30pm. Cocktails, dinner, award ceremony and dancing. Cocktail Attire.
