AWARD WINNING DIRECTOR MARK KITCHELL COMING TO EARTHPLACE

Award-winning documentarian Mark Kitchell is coming to Earthplace, The Nature Discovery Center this Thursday, July 25, 2013.  Kitchell will be leading a post-film discussion following a special screening of his documentary A Fierce Green Fire.  This is the second film to come to Earthplace as part of an ongoing series of public events focused on environmental education.

Kitchell’s A Fierce Green Fire is the first big-picture exploration of the environmental movement.  The film looks at grassroots and global activism spanning fifty years from conservation to climate change.  Kitchell is best known for his documentary Berkeley in the Sixties, which won the Sundance Audience Award in 1990, was nominated for an Academy Award and won other top honors.  It has become a well-loved classic, one of the defining documentaries about the protest movements of the 1960s.

In partnership with Clean Water Action Connecticut and Westport Green Task Force, this special event will kick-off with a reception at 6:00pm featuring wine from Organic Vintages and food from Whole Foods and Fountain of Youth Whole Foods.  The screening will begin at 7:00pm and will conclude with a Q&A with Kitchell.
