Bridgewater Associates President David McCormick Potential Trump Pick for Dept. of Defense: Report
He is a former Army officer and a veteran of the first Gulf War and was recently honored by Green Beret Foundation.
WESTPORT, CT — David McCormick, president of Westport-based hedge fund Bridgewater Associates, is a leading contender to become the deputy secretary of defense under President-elect Donald Trump, reports Politico.
McCormick is a graduate of United States Military Academy at West Point and studied mechanical engineering. He also holds a Ph.D. from Princeton, according to the publication. He also is a former Army officer and a veteran of the first Gulf War and was recently honored by Green Beret Foundation.
He previously was U.S. Treasury under-secretary for International Affairs in the administration of President George W. Bush. He also served as deputy national security adviser for International Economic Policy and under secretary of commerce for Export Administration.
