The reading runs approximately 80 minutes, and will be held on Friday, February 6th at 7:00 pm at the Westport Country Playhouse’s Barn space, marking Greenheart’s first major public initiative and its commitment to producing bold, theatrical work that sparks dialogue. The reading will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by acclaimed radio host, artist, and speaker, Randye Kaye, featuring a multidisciplinary group of speakers, including 17 MINUTES playwright Scott Organ, deepening the conversation this powerful play invites.

Play Synopsis: 17 minutes is the length of time Sheriff’s Deputy Andy Rubens stood outside of a school while a shooter was inside. The play 17 MINUTES explores the communal and residual effects of a shooting through Andy, a man who struggles with his own complicity in the tragedy, and who seeks meaning in the wake of the shooting.

The reading, directed by Andrea Lynn Green, features a celebrated ensemble of professional actors with credits spanning Broadway, Off-Broadway, major regional theatres, and prominent film and television work: Mike Boland, Dawn Vanessa Brown, Brian J. Carter, Susan Jacobson, Susan Vanech, and Allan Zeller, with Stage Directions read by Luisa Tanno.

A Company Rooted in Purpose

Founded by collaborators Andrea Lynn Green (Co-Founder & Executive Artistic Director) and Susan Jacobson (Co-Founder & Artistic Director), Greenheart Productions was born from a simple but powerful vision: to serve as both curator and conduit for stories that deepen empathy at a time when division runs high.
