Caring For Animals And People: Westport Star Student
We all know students who excel in academic, fine arts or volunteer service. Here's one local resident who is having an impact in Westport.

WESTPORT, CT — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Jennifer Hubbard who nominated Gianna, a Junior from Westport. Hubbard knows Gianna from the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Gianna has served as a member of the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary advisory boards since she was in elementary school. The Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary, created to honor the life of Catherine Violet, one of the 1st graders lost in the tragedy at Sandy Hook, honors Catherine's commitment to caring for animals. Through work that honors the human animal connection, the sanctuary is creating a kinder and gentler world. Gianna has been an ambassador of kindness, volunteering countless hours- along side starting her own business and juggling the demands of school and extracurricular activities, she has been steadfast in helping the sanctuary.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
Gianna is truly kind.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Gianna!
