Coleytown Elementary Teacher Accused Of Hit-And-Run Crash: Police
The suspect is accused of striking a vehicle in the school parking lot in November and not reporting it.

WESTPORT, CT — A 64-year-old music teacher at Coleytown Elementary School is accused of hitting a parked car in the school's parking lot, and then going to work as if nothing happened, according to Westport police.
Westport resident James Andrews turned himself in at police headquarters on Jan. 4, and was arrested on a charge of evading responsibility in connection with the Nov. 28, 2023, crash.
"The complainant reported that on November 28th they parked their vehicle and were walking into work when they heard what sounded like a minor vehicle crash," wrote Lt. Eric Woods in a statement. "When they returned to their car at the end of the day, they noticed damage to their car. The complainant notified school staff and called Police. Through the use of surveillance footage of the area, the suspect vehicle driven by James Andrews pulls into the parking lot, attempts to park, and strikes the other vehicle. Mr. Andrews exits his vehicle, inspects the damage, and then goes to work without notifying anyone about the incident."
