Congregation for Humanistic Judaism Family Passover Seder, March 29, 10:30-11:45 a.m. Bedford Middle School, 88 North Avenue, Westport, CT

Families with children of all ages are invited to attend the model Seder.

CHJ FAMILY PASSOVER SEDER MARCH 29

The Congregation for Humanistic Judaism (CHJ) will hold its annual children’s Seder in celebration of Passover on Sunday morning, March 29, 10:30-11:45 AM, at Bedford Middle School, 88 North Avenue, Westport. Families with children of all ages are invited to attend the model Seder.

Consistent with the practice of Humanistic Judaism, the model Seder contains the stories and elements of a traditional Seder and also offers modern interpretations of the meaning of Passover. The Seder will be followed by a brunch of Passover foods. Please reserve your spot by calling (203) 293-8867 or emailing info@humanisticjews.org by March 20.

Humanistic Judaism emphasizes personal responsibility in fulfilling the Jewish ideals of loving kindness, justice, good deeds, and giving to those in need. These ethical ideals are shared by Jewish tradition and humanist philosophy. These ideals manifest themselves poignantly in the telling of Jews exodus from Egypt.

The Congregation has a full calendar of activities for adults and families including Jewish holiday celebrations, Adult Education, Shabbat dinners, a wide array of evening programs and discussion groups.

The CHJ Sunday School provides a contemporary Jewish education for children in kindergarten through Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Children learn about Jewish holidays, history, literature, and traditions of the Jewish people in a warm, participatory environment. The curriculum is enriched by Hebrew, music, art, dance, and crafts. Jewish and Humanistic values and their relation to interpersonal, social and environmental issues are explored in all areas of the curriculum. Sunday School registration is ongoing.
