NEWINGTON, Conn. (April 4, 2016) – On Thursday, March 31st, the Connecticut Humane Society hosted a “Yappy Hour” at Westy Self Storage in Fairfield. Held in the grand lobby of Westy’s, 30 guests enjoyed an evening of giveaways, clever hors d’oeuvres prepared by Garelick & Herbs, and drinks. Arguably the highlight of the event was the opportunity for guests to enjoy this fun an evening alongside their four-legged friends, which included a blend of canine alums from the Connecticut Humane Society. While pups snacked on biscuits and enjoyed the finest of water, guests -- a blend of donors, volunteers, and new friends -- networked and mingled with one another and Connecticut Humane board members and staff, who were happy to share updates on current programs such as pet adoption, partnerships with local animal control agencies, support services for people struggling to keep their pets, and more. The evening concluded with a presentation from dog trainer and behaviorist Jody Rosengarten of The Bark Stops Here, who spoke with guests about “decoding your dog” – a primer to interpreting dog behavior and body language. The program concluded with guided tours of Westy’s ample storage options and a chorus of yips and yaps from the dogs in attendance – to the laughter of everyone on the perfect timing.
