Construction Project To Temporarily Close Road In Westport

According to the Director of Public Works, this will be a one-day shutdown and the road will be opened again at night.

WESTPORT, CT – Director of Public Works Peter Ratkiewich announced Monday that, in preparation for the construction associated with the Canal Road culvert replacement project, Canal Road at Marsh Court will be closed Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. This will be a one-day shutdown and the road will be opened again at night.

According to a news release, once the contractor mobilizes to the site, tentatively scheduled for Aug. 20, the road will be shut down completely, 24/7, for a period of approximately two months.

Ratkiewich said Canal Road residents will have the ability to access their properties from the Harbor Road side, and Saugatuck Island residents will be able to access properties via the Harbor Road Bridge. The road closure is isolated to the area just north of Marsh Court where the culverts cross under the road.
