Westport Drum Lessons by Jimmy Lane

Jimmy Lane is a drummer, teacher and the founder of Westport Drum Lessons. He began taking drum lessons at age 12 and has been actively playing, teaching (and learning!) ever since. In 1995, He began teaching at Merritt Music of New Canaan CT.  Demand grew rapidly, and soon private drum lessons were made available in Westport, and has expanded throughout southern Connecticut into Southport, Fairfield, Weston, Wilton, Norwalk, Redding, and New Canaan. Was  Jim manages to maintain a roster of between 30-40 steady drum students per week with unmatched longevity and loyalty.  "I must be the luckiest person ever." Jim explains: "To be able to share music ideas with these wonderful, interested and aspiring drummers. - Where can you find better company than that? It's a real privilege for me”.  Jim learned the basics from college professor Ray Alexander, who studied with Henry Adler, who was known as the premier drum teacher of the New York scene for the last 55 years. Mr. Adler was well known in the drumming industry as the teacher who was responsible for assisting musically and professionally - the greatest drummer of ALL times: the world famous - Buddy Rich. - The two collaborated on writing the classic and timeless drum method book "Buddy Rich's Snare Drum Rudiments", which is an integral part of Jim's drumming curriculum. There is no substitute for the right fundamental foundation. The students who work with Jim know that they have found the "main vein" of learning the drums. And it is exciting to know that they can trace their roots back to the great Mr. Buddy Rich himself... Jim is pupil-oriented instructor, able to teach beginners, novices, and experts by truly connecting with student at their level, and provide the right focus, insight, and attention that makes drum lessons have much deeper value and meaning. Rev. Lindasusan Ulrich (they/them) is a minister, writer, musician, and activist dedicated to radical inclusion, deep collaboration, and courageous kindness. Rev. Lindasusan has served congregations in Connecticut, Michigan, and Minnesota; is a certified spiritual director; and currently serves as a member of the Ministerial Fellowship Committee. They identify as a nonbinary bisexual person of color.+++ All are always welcome to our Unitarian Universalist services at UU Westport, offered each Sunday at 10 AM, both in person and <a href="https://uuwestport.org/livestream/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">live-streamed online</a>. Services usually include a time of reflection/prayer/meditation; wonderful music; readings; and a homily or sermon to lend insight into our world and how we interact with it and with each other. Pop Shop Market is bringing its signature elevated shopping experience to Westport with a special&nbsp;Pre-Mother’s Day Weekend Event, featuring a thoughtfully curated pop-up event spotlighting small local businesses.
The event will take place on&nbsp;Saturday, May 2nd&nbsp;from&nbsp;10:00 AM to 4:00 PM&nbsp;at the&nbsp;Westport Museum for History and Culture. This outdoor market will showcase a rotating selection of elevated local vendors offering fashion, accessories, home goods, gifts, and more. A&nbsp;rain date is scheduled for Saturday, May 9th.


Perfectly timed for seasonal gifting, guests can shop for&nbsp;Mother’s Day, graduations, teacher appreciation gifts, or simply treat themselves while discovering unique, high-quality products from local entrepreneurs.
Parking Information:

The Community Cultural Celebration is an opportunity to unite the Wilton community, showcasing the diverse cultures that make up our town through dance, music, dress, holidays, and food from around the world. It's an opportunity to interact with and learn from each other, bringing together representatives from various cultures to showcase their unique heritage and educate the Wilton community about their traditions and culture. Each of the 15 countries represented will have a table display to help you learn more about their culture and we will also feature larger performances from select cultures throughout the event.&nbsp;
Bring the kids to travel the world with our Passport Program, where they can collect stickers from each country when they stop by their table!
