Daniel Hirschberg Reaches Semifinals Of Class LL Tennis
Staples junior cruises through two matches on Monday.
Top seed Daniel Hirschberg of Staples was barely tested Monday, when the junior won two more matches to reach the semifinals of the CIAC Class LL tournament.
In the third round, he ousted Zach Nicklaus of Greenwich, 6-2, 6-1, then came back to defeat No. 8 seed Jason Ottomano of Fairfield Prep, 6-0, 6-1.
Hirschberg, who won his first two matches, 6-0, 6-0, has lost a mere four games in reaching Tuesday's semifinals, when he will take on No. 4 seed Tyler Kratcky of Greenwich at Hall High in West Hartford at 4 p.m.

In the other semifinal, No. 2 Tom O'Brien of Fairfield Prep takes on No. 6 Bryan Adams of Cheshire.
Hirschberg and O'Brien could be on a collision course to meet in the finals on Wednesday.
