Dogs Allowed At Westport Beach Starting Oct. 1

Dogs are allowed at Compo Beach in Westport next month, however they are still prohibited from the pavilion, playground and walkways.

WESTPORT, CT — Town officials are reminding residents this week dogs will be allowed at Compo Beach from Oct. 1 until March 31.

In a news release, Parks & Recreation Director Jennifer Fava noted the following regulations will still be in effect for Compo Beach:

  • Dogs are prohibited from the pavilion, playground and walkways.
  • All dogs must be leashed in all areas of the park except in the designated off leash area of the beach south of the pavilion, including South Beach. Off-leash regulations are posted at the entrance to the off-leash area.
  • Guests are required by law to pick up their dog's feces.

Violation of the above regulations could result in a $77 fine.
