Driver Tries To Walk Away After Crashing Into Parked Cars: Westport PD

The incident occurred July 28 on Bermuda Road.

WESTPORT, CT — A 34-year-old Little Ferry, New Jersey, man was arrested on charges of evading responsibility and related violations on July 28 after he smashed his vehicle into two parked vehicles on Bermuda Road in Westport, and then walked away from the crash, according to police.

In addition to evading responsibility, Ervis Zeqo was also charged with operating a motor vehicle without a license and failure to drive in the proper lane.

The incident occurred at about 10:20 p.m. when police were called to Bermuda Road about a crash.

"Upon arriving, the officers located the vehicle in question, which had struck two parked cars, but the occupant(s) were no longer on scene," police said in statement. "The officers began to look for the driver as well as possible passengers and saw a male walking near the intersection of Surf Road/Bermuda Road who was identified as Ervis Zeqo.

"Mr. Zeqo reportedly admitted to driving the car and stated that he lost control of the vehicle after
running over a rock in the roadway. The officers attempted to find the rock but neither the rock
nor any other obstruction was found."

Zeqo was taken into custody and released after posting a $500 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on November 2.
