Night of Entertainment, Incredible Auction Items to Benefit ABC Scholars and

Acknowledge ABC’s Founding Directors

WESTPORT, CT, Feb.  – A Better Chance (ABC) of Westport will celebrate its 10th Anniversary with its “A Decade of Dreams” fundraiser on Sat., March 31 from 6:30-10:30 pm at the Unitarian Church in Westport.

The event promises an evening of sumptuous food, exciting entertainment, with highlights including the vast, incredible opportunities and items that will be offered in both live and silent auctions.

Ten years ago, the non-profit ABC of Westport was founded by volunteers and dedicated to helping motivated students of color from educationally disadvantaged areas.

During the past decade, the program has grown and now selects students from more than 2,000 candidates who demonstrate potential for academic excellence and leadership in life and offers the students the opportunity to live in the Westport community – at the newly renovated ABC House on North Avenue - during the school year, attend Staples High School, engage with Westport’s residents and participate in the town’s activities.  ABC gives its young scholars a better chance while allowing Westport to share the community’s resources, to support the program’s purpose and to benefit from its diversity.

ABC of Westport’s founding directors will be honored during the March 31 fundraising event. Among them: Barbara Butler, Dave Driscoll, Peggy Kamins, Ann Pawlick and Lisa Friedland.

“As we celebrate ABC of Westport’s ten years of service in the community, we are excited to pay tribute to the program’s founders and acknowledge them for their passion and dedication to the organization’s ongoing ability to have a positive impact on the ABC scholars’ lives,” said A Decade of Dreams Event Co-Chair Leslie Singer.

Added Event Co-Chair Elida Gollomp, “We look forward to another successful and fun event, all due to the generosity of A Better Chance friends, and fully anticipate an unforgettable evening filled with hope and promise for the ABC scholars.”

Along with traditional auction items, other items expected include once-in-a-lifetime opportunities such as sunset cruises, great tickets to Broadway shows and pro sports events, and weeklong usage of ski and vacation homes. There will be an opportunity for those interested to bid on-line before the March 31 event, providing more opportunity to secure great items and experiences while helping to increase fundraising for the evening.
