Please join the Boys Lacrosse Program on Saturday, May 5th at Staples High School Stadium as they honor and raise funds for our country’s wounded veterans in a Sticks For Soldiers event.
Begun in 2006, the idea came from long-time lacrosse player, coach and youth advocate Mike Voucas; the tournament has raised $155,000 since inception. Staples Lacrosse has participated in the Thanksgiving tournament for 4 years and is now pleased to continue its involvement with this great cause.
The afternoon will begin at 3:30PM and introduce Captain Rick Holahan, a Connecticut member of the Armed Services, who served in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom and has just returned from a voluntary deployment in Afghanistan. The game will commence at 4:00PM when the Staples Boys Varsity Lacrosse team takes on St. John the Baptist. Half time activities will include Westport PAL team play. $5 tickets for admission will be sold at the game by The Wreckers Lacrosse Club. Jr’s Hot Dog Stand will serve dogs and chips for $3/ticket. Baked goods and T-shirts will also be sold.
