Fairfield Man Arrested on Domestic Assault, Narcotics Charges: Westport Police

The incident occurred in a parking lot behind police headquarters

WESTPORT, CT — A 31-year-old Fairfield man was arrested on assault and narcotics charges Sunday afternoon in a parking lot behind Westport Police Headquarters, according to authorities.

Steven Shulman, and an unnamed female passenger, were sitting in a car parked behind the station at about 4:45 p.m. when witnesses allegedly saw Shulman striking the woman.

"It was also learned that a 6-week old infant was in the vehicle as well during the assault," police wrote in a statement.

Officers intervened and searched the vehicle, finding marijuana and "Butane Honey Oil or 'DAB' along with packaging materials, scales, and other paraphernalia associated with the manufacture and sale of 'DAB.'"

Shulman was charged with Assault, 3rd degree; Risk of Injury to Minor; and Sale of Controlled Substance. He was held in lieu of a $10,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court yesterday, Aug. 29. The current status of his case was not immediately known.
