Fire Damages Deck Of Westport Home: Fire Department

WESTPORT, CT — Firefighters extinguished a deck fire at a home on Hunting Lane in Westport early Tuesday, the cause of which is under investigation, according to fire officials.

The blaze was reported at about 12:15 a.m., and when fire crews arrived at the home, they "found heavy fire in the rear of the house from a deck that was well involved in fire," Assistant Chief Jeffrey Gootman said in a statement.

No injuries were reported, and firefighters were able to quickly douse the blaze and prevent it from spreading into the home, according to Gootman.

The Westport Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
