Fire Damages Garage In Westport: Fire Officials
The fire was reported Thursday night on Burr Farms Road.

WESTPORT, CT — A properly working smoke detector alerted occupants of a garage fire Thursday night in a home on Burr Farms Road in Westport, according to Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Gootman.
No injuries were reported in the 7:45 p.m. blaze, and all occupants were able to safely get out of the house.
When firefighters arrived at the home, they saw heavy smoke coming from the garage, and they were able to quickly extinguish the blaze.

"The Westport Fire Department would like to remind everyone to have smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in their homes," Gootman said in a statement. "The homeowners were alerted to fire by a properly working smoke detector."
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Westport Fire Marshal’s office.
