Firefighter Injured While Extinguishing Westport House Fire: FD
Fire officials said a caller reported seeing flames coming from the home's ceiling.

WESTPORT, CT — A Westport firefighter sustained minor injuries while extinguishing a house fire Monday evening on Red Coat Road, according to fire officials.
In a news release, Assistant Fire Chief Matthew Cohen said a caller reported seeing flames coming from the home's ceiling around 5 p.m.
When crews arrived at the house, they noticed smoke emitting from the attic and roof vents. Firefighters then made their way to the attic and found heavy smoke and moderate fire conditions, Cohen said.

Additional firefighters from nearby departments were called to the house to prevent the fire from spreading further, however crews were able to quickly extinguish the blaze before backup arrived, Cohen said.
One firefighter sustained minor injuries during the incident, Cohen said. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Westport Fire Marshal's Office, Cohen said.
