Former Employees of Westport Nail Salon Win Back Pay, Damages in Lawsuit

The workers sued Finger Nail and its owner Sandy Choe.

WESTPORT, CT - Two former employees of the Westport nail salon Finger Nail recently won more than $41,000 combined in back pay, and double damages, in a lawsuit over low wages and false time cards.

Marlene Rojas and Vilma Guevara proved that they were forced to sign documents that lied about the number of hours they worked, reports the Connecticut Law Tribune. Both claimed they worked more than 40 hours a week but the documents said they worked less.

Additionally, the salon's owner, Sandy Choe, also reportedly did not pay the employees minimum wage or overtime, which prompted an investigation by the state Department of Labor.
