Former Gubernatorial Candidate From Westport Reportedly Fined

WESTPORT, CT — Steve Obsitnik, a former Republican gubernatorial candidate, has agreed to a $90,000 penalty from the state's Elections Enforcement Commission, which determined he accepted money from both a political action committee and the public campaign fund, writes the Stamford Advocate.

The state commission said that the Westport resident received $1.3 million in public campaign funding and $88,000 from FixCT Inc., a political action committee, which the commission said worked in concert with Obsitnik.

Under terms of the agreement, Obsitnik is not admitting wrongdoing, but is instead settling a "contested matter," according to the publication.
