Former Westporter Justin Paul Nominated for Songwriting Oscars
The 2003 Staples High School grad co-wrote songs for "La La Land" with Benj Pasek.

WESTPORT, CT — Justin Paul, a 2003 graduate of Westport's Staples High School, has been nominated for two Best Original Song Oscars for 2017 for his work with fellow lyricist Benj Pasek on the hit film "La La Land."
Pasek and Paul wrote "Audition (The Fools Who Dream)" and "City of Stars" for the movie, and both songs are up for the award. Additionally, the musical "La La Land," which stars Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, has been nominated for a record-tying 14 Oscars by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Last month, "City of Stars" won a Golden Globe for Best Original Song, reports Westport Now.
