Furry Relief for St. Luke's Seniors Awaiting College Decisions
Hefty the golden retriever brings calm and cuddles

St. Luke's Head of School Mary Halpin Carter had a special mission for her dog, Hefty. Senior Hannah Gunn told Carter that Hefty, who greets students outside each morning, would be the perfect antidote to the stress of waiting for college decisions. Carter and College Counseling Director Sona Bell loved the idea and set up Hefty to work his magic in the College Counseling Office. Gunn said: "A lot of seniors were feeling stressed out with many schools releasing early decisions in December. Everyone was thrilled to have Hefty stop by (the College Counseling Office was packed!), and I can say that I felt much happier having him around."
Hefty was well compensated for his work in the form of endless hugs and belly rubs.
