Gas Line Replacement Project To Close Road In Westport
The utility work is tied to the upcoming bridge replacement project.
WESTPORT, CT — Cross Highway in Westport between North Avenue and Wakeman Farm Drive will be closed to through traffic from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. June 11 and 12 as crews conduct a natural gas line replacement project and utility work ahead of the planned replacement of the Cross Highway Bridge over Dead Man’s Brook, according to the Westport Department of Public Works.
Local traffic will continue to have access to Cross Highway between Bayberry Lane and Wakeman Farm Drive during the closures. Through traffic will be directed to follow posted detour routes during construction hours.
The town said Westport emergency services and representatives from Westport Public Schools have been notified of the planned closures.

The road and bridge will remain open June 15 and 16 to accommodate graduation ceremonies at Staples High School and Bedford Middle School.
A previously announced detour related to the bridge replacement project is scheduled to begin June 19 and continue through approximately Aug. 20, according to the Department of Public Works. The town said an additional reminder about the detour will be issued next week.
