Gofer Ice Cream Announces New Westport Location

Gofer Ice Cream has announced plans to open a new location in Westport in the spring of 2022.

WESTPORT, CT — As Gofer Ice Cream prepares to hold a grand opening for its new Ridgefield shop on Sunday, the company has also announced a new Westport location planned to open in the spring of 2022.

In a news release, the company said the lease for a new Westport location at 1240 Post Road has been signed by franchisee partner Hasni Waheed. The store will be located in a shopping plaza near Crate and Barrel in the Greens Farms area of town.

"Now who doesn't like ice cream," Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce president Matthew Mandell said in an email to Patch. "I'm looking forward to this addition to our town."

Gofer Franchise Systems CEO Jay Ragusa noted the Westport location was carefully selected and has a number of exciting neighboring tenants that provide "a great flow of traffic from all demographics," including the CT School of Music, Fortuna's Deli and Splatterbox.

"Gofer has a variety of products and something for everybody," Ragusa said in a news release. "With our premium soft and hard serve, plant-based and fat free options, I am confident the diverse set of neighboring businesses will benefit from our shop as well. It is a great location with great parking and several nearby schools. I like that it is away from the Main Street area of town."

Ragusa compared the location to the company's original Greenwich location, which he said has been a huge success since opening back in 2003. Since then, Gofer Ice Cream has opened a number of locations in Fairfield County, including stores in Wilton, New Canaan and Darien.

A second Stamford store, the company's eighth location, is planned to open in the Ridgeway Shopping Center on Summer Street early next year.

The new Ridgefield shop, located at 407 Main Street, is the chain's largest location to date and includes a party room space in back. The store's grand opening will Sunday afternoon will feature giveaways and face painting, and part of the proceeds will be donated to local childhood hunger charity Filling in the Blanks.
