'Guardian Angel' Service Dog Event In Westport Aug. 25

The third annual Barks, Brews & BBQ will be held at the Westport VFW.

(Guardian Angel Medical Service Dogs)

GAMSD: Guardian Angel Medical Service Dogs (GAMSD) are literally saving veteran’s lives. Later this month, the group’s Connecticut Region will hold its annual fundraiser to help support their contribution to this incredible cause.

Tragically, more than 32 U.S. veterans attempt suicide every day. Once a veteran is paired with a Guardian Angels Medical Service Dog, the statistics are clear: Suicide rate drops to zero, divorce rate drops to less than 1% (down from 90%), and there is a dramatic decrease in the use of prescription drugs. These amazing Medical Service Dogs have improved the lives of more than 300 Veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). “The impact that these special dogs have on military veterans is nothing short of amazing,” said Dr. Rick McFarland, CT Regional Coordinator of GAMSD. “Our recipients have experienced devastating medical conditions and wounds – both emotional and physical. Our dogs unleash the power to heal and literally give life back to these individuals that have sacrificed so much.” Please join us at our 3 rd annual Barks, Brews and BBQ to be held at the Westport VFW on Sunday, August 25, 2019.
