Here Today: Spruce Home and Garden

Home design boutique moves into historic Westport building.

After years of sitting empty, the former Westport Town Hall building at 90 Post Road East has been re-opened, this time as Spruce Home and Garden.   A relative newcomer to the retail market (they have stores in New Milford and West Hartford), Spruce offers an eclectic mix of contemporary furniture and accessories for the home, as well as a carefully edited and ever changing selection of apparel, gift items, artwork, books and jewelry.  “We try to make it a relaxing experience,” says store manager Chad Dutcher, “You can find good quality, beautiful things without the prices being out of the stratosphere.”  Spruce Home and Garden intends to keep the tradition of the Town Hall as a gathering place alive – they hope to partner with local organizations to hold fundraisers in the store as a way of giving back to the community.
