Parts Of Westport Intersection Reopen: UPDATE

Update (3:15 p.m.): Riverside Avenue between Bridge Street and Saugatuck Avenue remains closed in both directions, however Saugatuck Avenue is completely open, according to police. Riverside Avenue between Saugatuck Avenue and Sylvan Road South is also completely open, police said.

WESTPORT, CT — The intersection at Riverside Avenue and Saugatuck Avenue is closed Monday morning due to a ruptured gas line, according to police.

In a news release, Police Lt. Dave Wolf said all northbound traffic on Saugatuck Avenue is being diverted onto Sunrise Road.

All northbound traffic on Riverside Avenue between the Saugatuck Train Station and Bridge Street is being diverted onto Bridge Street.

All traffic traveling southbound on Riverside Avenue is being diverted onto Sylvan Road South. The southbound lane of Saugatuck Avenue remains open.

Police ask drivers to avoid the area and find alternate routes during the partial closure. It is unknown at this time when the intersection will reopen, Wolf said.
