Childs Play features Brian Torff, CT-based world-renown bassist, and Greg Burrows, NYC based drummer/percussionist, and guest stars the Grammy-nominated Bobby Sanabria.
Released September 8th , Childs Play features a set of songs that highlights Childs’ intrigue with “the inherent dualities and contrasts in this music we call jazz” with such standards as “Celia” by Bud Powell, “Gaviota” by Clare Fischer, “I’m Old Fashioned” by Jerome Kern and Johnny Mercer,“Prelude to a Kiss” by Duke Ellington, and “I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free” by Billy Taylor.

Hailing from Indianapolis, IN, David Childs began playing piano at age seven. He has worked as a professional pianist in the Northeastern United States for over 30 years. Childs attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, studied under jazz luminaries Steve Allee, James Williams and Donald Brown, and shared the stage with such jazz greats as Jimmy Heath, Bill Crow, James Moody, Eddie Bert, Bill Watrous and the Nelson Riddle Orchestra.
Versatile and dynamic, Childs continues to be a sought after musician for a variety of engagements and recording projects. In addition to his private studio, Childs serves as a faculty member for Westport School of Music, Continuo Music of Redding, and Westchester Home Music in Scarsdale, NY, and performs as church pianist for the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Bridgeport in Stratford where he incorporates jazz, classical, pop, folk, sacred and world music.
