On Monday, September 14, 2026 Humanists and Freethinkers of Fairfield County (HFFC) will feature
the Fairfield Country Rep of the American Civil Liberties Union of Connecticut, Amber Vlangas, who will discuss the ongoing national attack on voting rights and how CT residents can help. &nbsp;She can also discuss other current issues on ACLU CT’s radar, including privacy, immigrant rights and protections for the right to demonstrate. 

Amber Vlangas is a civil liberties activist who has served as the Fairfield County Engagement Officer with the ACLU CT for nearly five years. After serving in the United States Marine Corps and earning her B.A. in Visual and Public Communication, Amber has spent more than 25 years in nonprofit outreach, organizing, and resource development. She currently serves on the steering committees and leadership teams of several national groups and co-hosts the podcast Amplified Voices.

The ACLU of Connecticut defends, promotes, and expands the civil rights and civil liberties of all people in Connecticut through litigation, community organizing and legislative advocacy, and civic education and engagement. Organized in 1948, it is an inclusive, non-partisan, and statewide organization within the nationwide American Civil Liberties Union network. 

This meeting is free and open to all.&nbsp;&nbsp;Join us in Wilton for the presentation and the social gathering beforehand.&nbsp; (We will supply the address after you register.) Join us for the powerful, transformative art that is burlesque. Known as the art of the tease, burlesque is a versatile, open-ended artform welcome to all genders, presentations, body shapes and sizes,&nbsp;celebrating life and body autonomy through glamour, striptease, live singing, circus arts and more.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for showtime at 7 p.m. Seated tickets $25, and standing room tickets $15.&nbsp;Ages 21 and older, please.

The Congregation for Humanistic Judaism of Fairfield County, CT (CHJ), welcomes the public to our High Holiday services.
Our schedule of remaining in-person (and livestreamed) services are:
Yom Kippur Kol Nidre Service, Sunday, September 20th at 7:30 pm
Yom Kippur Memorial and Closing Service, Monday, September 21st at 5:00 pm.
In-person or livestream options are available. Non-members must pre-register on CHJ's website, no later than Thursday, September 17, for location details. While our services are free of charge, we kindly ask non-members to consider a donation.
As the only Humanistic Jewish congregation in Connecticut, CHJ celebrates Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur with a Humanistic liturgy, beautiful live music (song leader and instrumental), and inspirational poetry and readings.
Our services strike a balance between the broad stream of Judaism and a secular humanistic view of Jewish culture and customs. They are unique and spiritually uplifting and allow one to reflect on the year that has passed and the promise of the new year to come.
CHJ is affiliated with the Society for Humanistic Judaism (shj.org), part of a movement that celebrates Jewish culture and heritage through a non-theistic, human-centered approach. Our membership reflects a diverse group of people who enrich our community.

This festive community gathering will feature live music by Tangled Vine, a special guest speaker Kelly Paris (Police Chief Paris’s wife), a Kid’s Area with face painting, games and more, the Little Pub food truck, vendors and more. To raise awareness and funds for the patients and programs of the Norma Pfriem Breast Center part of Smilow Cancer Hospital and Yale New Haven Health.
