Long Lots Students Perform in CMEA All-State Conference

From Westport Public Schools: Three ensembles comprised of 45 students from the Long Lots Elementary School Pan Island Express Steel Drum Band, the Westport Middle School Percussion Ensemble and the Bedford Middle School Jazz Ensemble have been selected to perform at the 71st Annual Connecticut Music Educators Association (CMEA) All-State Conference on March 31st in Hartford, CT.

Each school year, CMEA hosts regional concerts that highlight students’ advanced achievement in music performance. In March, CMEA hosts a state-wide in-service conference for music educators and concludes with the All-State ensemble performances by high school students. In addition, this conference features “honors ensemble” performances. The administrative board members of CMEA select student ensembles with the intent of featuring outstanding examples of advanced musical achievement from across our state. For this reason, school ensembles that perform at CMEA’s All State conference represent some of the finest music groups and programs in Connecticut.

Students participating are: Pan Island Express members Michael Belpedio, Deneil Betfarhad, Emerson Briggs, Jared Even, Victoria Fidalgo Schioppa, Logan Goodman, Ruby Kantor, Nina Lauterbach, Anna Belle Luo, Grace Power, Lindsey Price, Isabella Rivel, Tyler Rockwell, Libby Turner; Westport Middle School Percussion Ensemble members Amy Ginzburg, Dylan Goodman, Tanvi Gorre, Ella Hansen, James Holmes, Jimmy Jennings, Anna Moody, Peter Moody, Abbigail Renger, Lea Rivel, Julia Rubino, Adam Sigal, Clara Smith; and the Bedford Middle School Jazz Ensemble members Elana Atlas, Eugene O’Brien, Colin Daines, Patrick Crise, Ryan Porio, Nicholas Augeri, Matthew Davis, Pierre Briand, Delaney McGee, Sam Pirkl, Samantha Taylor, Julia Rubino, Gustav Zauls, Chloe Ashton, Sophia Pappas, Amy Ginzburg, Claire Lee, Zoe Webster, Dylan Goodman, Lucas Lieberman.

The groups are directed by Betsy Tucker (Pan Island Express), Mary Gardner (Percussion Ensemble) and Gregg Winters (Bedford Jazz Ensemble).
