Metro SwimShop Leaving Downtown Westport

The specialty shop has been in Westport for almost two decades.

After nearly 20 years in downtown Westport, Metro SwimShop will be leaving Church Lane and heading to Norwalk. The store will likely be closed by Tuesday.

The building at 22 Church Lane was sold and the new owners asked them to leave, according to Mary Cleveland, store manager.

“I think they have more upscale plans than Metro SwimShop,” she said.

The specialty stores sells swim racing gear and other aquatic goods. Cleveland said that since their goods are so unique, shoppers come from all over the state to peruse Metro SwimShop’s wares.
