Money Restored to Westport School Budget

The RTM voted to restore money after more than four hours of discussion.

WESTPORT, CT — The Representative Town Meeting voted to restore $390,000 to the school operating budget after more than four hours of discussion.
The budget will now be 1.57 percent more than the previous year, according to Westport Now.
Some feared the cut would result in music programs and freshman sports at Staples High being reduced. Others felt that Westport's strong school system continues to boost real estate values and restoring the money would send the right message.
