Multiple Gunshots Fired In Saugatuck; Westport Police Investigating

The incident occurred Tuesday night, and police are asking for the public's help in finding whoever is responsible.

WESTPORT, CT — Multiple gunshots were fired from a vehicle in the Saugatuck area of Westport Tuesday night, and Westport police are asking for the public's help in finding the culprit.

The incident began at about 9:45 p.m., when the department began receiving several calls that gunshots were heard in the area of Saugatuck Avenue and Franklin Street, prompting the department to dispatch several officers to investigate. No injuries were reported.

"The initial investigation led to witnesses reporting a non-descript white vehicle traveling north on Franklin Street, north on Saugatuck Avenue, and turning west on Sunrise Road," said Lt. Eric Woods in a statement. "Witnesses reported hearing multiple shots being fired from the vehicle as it turned up Sunrise Road."

Police set up a perimeter and closed Sunrise Road to all traffic between Indian Hill Road and Saugatuck Avenue, but police did not find a suspect.

The investigation is continuing, and Westport police urge anyone who lives in the area to review surveillance cameras and report suspicious activity to the Westport Detective Bureau at 203-341-6080, or via email to Det. John Lauria at dlauria@westportct.gov.
