Murray, Coyne Named Bobby Q's Patch Players of the Week

Chris Coyne and Patrick Murray were key components of Friday's win against Wilton.

There was a lot of chatter about what the Wreckers could - or couldn't - do after starting quarterback Chet Pajolek suffered a season-ending injury. Senior captain Chris Coyne heard it all.

"A lot of people had doubted us and we just exploded on offense," said the tight end and defensive end.

After 35-7, Coyne, along with fellow defensive end and tight end Patrick Murray, were selected by their coaches as the Bobby Q's Patch Player of the Week.

For Murray, also a senior, the key was dedication and focus.

"We lived in the film room," he said.

Immediately after Friday's win, Coyne, who recovered a blocked punt for a touchdown, told Patch that the team has a lot of confidence in freshman quarterback Jack Massie as the playoffs approach.

"Sometimes,  I'll walk over to him in practice or during the game to check how he's doing, and he is always calm and in control," Coyne said. "It's been a smooth transition and he's fit right in with the older guys."

For their efforts on the gridiron, both players were given $25 gift cards to Bobby Q's Barbecue and Grill by owner Bob LeRose.
