Club Champion, a chain out of Chicago, recently opened its second Connecticut store in Westport's Compo Shopping Center.
WESTPORT, CT — Looking to lower your scores at Longshore golf course this summer? Start at Westport's newest custom golf club fitting shop, Club Champion.
The Chicago-based chain recently opened its second Connecticut store in Westport's Compo Shopping Center, ready to help you add length to your shots and subtract strokes from your game. The company's other Connecticut shop is in Hartford.
"We fit the entire bag of clubs, from putter to driver," customer fit specialist Zack Bennardo told Patch.

A by-appointment full bag fitting is extensive, lasting three and a half hours and costing $400. The company also offers different fitment levels, such as a driver fitting or irons fitting (an hour and half for $175), down to a putter or wedge fitting (one hour, $125 and $100, respectively).
Fitting sessions include computerized tracking of your swing, producing data on the nuances of a player's stroke.

All levels can benefit from custom club fitting, from beginners to scratch players, according to the company.
The shop's hitting bays are outfitted with TrackMan launch monitors for analyzing performance, a SAM PuttLab system to find the perfect putter, and a build shop for repairing and assembling golf clubs by hand. The roughly 3,000 square foot Westport space also includes a demo matrix to display the head and shaft options that make up their thousands of hittable combinations.
Once the data is compiled, the fit specialist will create a custom blueprint of the best clubs for you, drawing on 55,000 different combinations, according to Bennardo.
"We first fit players with the right shaft, and then move to the heads," Bennardo said.
The company will then sell and build your custom golf clubs by hand, using top-shelf brands like Callaway, TaylorMade, Ping, Titleist, Cobra, Fujikura, Golf Pride and more.
"Westport is the latest stop on our quest to give Connecticut golfers the best possible custom golf clubs in the industry," said Nick Sherburne, founder of Club Champion, in a statement. "Our goal remains finding the best combination of components to help customers lower their scores and better enjoy the game."
