Madison Reed, the hair color beauty disruptor brand that has seen exponential growth this year, today announces the opening of its newest Hair Color Bar in Westport, Connecticut. Opening in the heart of downtown Westport on Thursday, November 19, the new Madison Reed Hair Color Bar marks the brand’s first Connecticut location and 25th Hair Color Bar in the country. The Westport opening comes during a period of high growth for the brand. Since March, Madison Reed has seen a dramatic, twelvefold increase in new customers. The brand was able to transition all “behind the chair” team members to roles in customer service to keep pace with the surge in demand, avoiding layoffs. Following shelter-in-place, Madison Reed began reopening its existing Hair Color Bars and added more than a dozen new locations in metro Atlanta, GA; the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area; Boca Raton, FL; Boulder, CO; King of Prussia, PA; and now Westport, with more to come.

The Hair Color Bar concept is designed to deliver stunning salon-quality hair color, that is both affordable and convenient for time-pressed individuals, with ingredients they can feel good about. For only $60 – significantly less than the cost of a salon visit – clients can get permanent color applied by a certified, licensed colorist. Just as it is now revolutionizing the salon business, Madison Reed began by disrupting at-home hair color, typically sold in boxes at drugstores.

Madison Reed’s proprietary formula is free of eight harsh ingredients commonly used by other brands, including PPD, ammonia, parabens, resorcinol, phthalates, gluten, SLS and titanium dioxide. Madison Reed uses technology, including a proprietary algorithm that extracts data from 20 million "hair profiles", as well as an augmented reality tool – to help women find their perfect shade of hair color.

Commitment to COVID Safety Protocols

All Madison Reed Hair Color Bars are taking precautions to help limit the spread of COVID-19, which include:

• All colorists and clients are required to wear a mask.
• Clients are spaced every other chair, and there will be no more than seven people (colorists and clients) in the salon at the same time.
• Each chair is sanitized between clients.
• All colorists wear masks, gloves, aprons.
• Daily temperature checks for staff and clients to be taken using touchless digital thermometers.
• All common areas cleaned regularly throughout the day and by a professional cleaning service every night.
• Hospital-grade ventilation system to help filter out small air particles as well as to deactivate airborne bacteria, allergens, and viruses.

The Hair Color Bar will open with limited capacity and hours, allowing no more than two clients in the salon at a time. Masks and social distancing will be required. Madison Reed will be open Tuesday through Saturday between 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Sunday between noon – 5 p.m. Madison Reed will be closed on Mondays.
