New Officer Joins Westport Police Department
Stephen Silva has joined the Westport Police Department's ranks as an officer.
WESTPORT, CT — Westport police announced Thursday Stephen Silva has joined the department's ranks as an officer.
Silva was sworn in during a small ceremony Thursday morning in front of his family and friends.
According to a news release, Silva began his law enforcement career with the Bridgeport Police Department in 2016, working in the department's patrol division and serving as an acting detective. He was also a member of the department's honor guard.

"Officer Silva brings a wealth of experience and there is little doubt that he will be a great addition to the department," Chief Foti Koskinas said in a news release. "Please join me in welcoming him to the community."
In addition to working full time as a police officer, Silva is pursuing a degree in emergency management at Post University.

Public service runs in Silva’s family, as one of his brothers is a detective with the Trumbull Police Department and the other is a corrections officer, according to police.
