New Principal Named At Westport's Coleytown Middle School

WESTPORT, CT — Janna Sirowich, currently principal at Coleytown Elementary School, has been named the new principal at Coleytown Middle School, Westport Schools Superintendent Thomas Scarice announced Wednesday.

Sirowich will replace Dr. Penny Proskinitopoulos, who this month resigned as principal of Coleytown Middle School to take a position with Weston Public Schools.

"Mrs. Sirowich has experienced great success as the Principal of CES for 16 years," Scarice wrote in a letter to the Coleytown Middle School community. "Prior to that, she served as a literacy leader and classroom teacher for the Westport Public Schools. Based on her exemplary performance as a building leader, and her desire for professional growth in a new position, I met with Janna late last week to discuss this opportunity and offered her the position. While Janna is overwhelmed with gratitude for her years at CES, she is equally excited about this new opportunity and what lies ahead for her and CMS."

Sirowich is expected to start at Coleytown Middle in the next couple of weeks.

"I have complete confidence that she will be an outstanding leader to serve the CMS students, faculty and parents," Scarice added about Sirowich.

Plans for the principal's position at Coleytown Elementary School have not yet been announced.
