New Westport Road Closure Due To Downed Tree

WESTPORT, CT — Police have closed Easton Road in the area of Sturges Highway in Westport after a downed tree damaged power lines.

"Officers are on scene diverting northbound traffic onto Catamount Road where motorists can then turn left onto Sturges Highway in order to bypass the closure. Southbound motorists are able to turn left onto Sturges Highway and turn right onto Catamount Road," said Matthew Gouveia, police spokesman.

Police remind motorists not to move barricades in order to travel.

"Should you come across these areas do not tamper with these safety measures, and remember that any downed power wire should always treated as energized," he said.
