New York Woman Accused Of Identity Theft Involving Westport Check: PD
The suspect is accused of stealing two checks from a blue USPS mailbox in Westport last October, according to police.

WESTPORT, CT — A 38-year-old Bronx, New York woman was arrested on a warrant by Westport police this week, after authorities said she deposited two stolen checks into her bank account that had not been made out to her.
Lidia Robles surrendered to Westport police on Monday, and was charged with first-degree larceny and third-degree identity theft in connection with the October 2023 incident.
"The complainant reported that they mailed two checks from the blue USPS mailbox at 275 Post Road [East] on October 10, 2023," wrote Westport Police Lt. Eric Woods in a statement. "They advised that the amount of the checks was not altered, but the payee line was altered to 'Lidia Robles.' Through the use of search warrants, digital evidence, surveillance footage, Lidia Robles was identified as a suspect in this case."

The amounts of the checks were not disclosed, but the charge of first-degree larceny is for theft of $20,000 or more.
Robles was released after posting bond on bail of $50,000, and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on March 25.
