Norwalk Man Causes Scene When Tow Truck Comes For Disabled Vehicle: Westport Police

The man's broken down vehicle blocked an entire lane of traffic.

WESTPORT, CT — A 49-year-old Norwalk man, who left his disabled vehicle in the middle of Wilton Road near Ivy Knoll Friday afternoon, was arrested after allegedly creating a scene when a tow truck came to haul away the broken down vehicle.

The incident occurred at about 4:35 p.m. when Westport police officers were called to the scene.

"Upon arrival, a disabled motor vehicle was located blocking one lane of travel on Wilton Road," wrote police in a statement. "There were no notes left by the owner/operator of the vehicle nor had [Westport police] been contacted by the owner/operator."

Once a tow truck arrived to remove the vehicle, police left the scene but were quickly called back.

"All units cleared and shortly thereafter, [Westport police] received a call from the tow truck operator requesting assistance at the intersection of Wilton Road and Post Road West. Responding offices found the owner/operator of the towed vehicle, Henry Delacruz, had climbed up onto the rear of the tow truck and was refusing to get down causing the tow truck driver to have to stop and block Wilton Road. Delacruz was causing a scene by yelling at both the tow truck operator and police and refusing to get down from the back of the tow truck. Eventually Delacruz got off the back of the tow truck and was immediately arrested for breach of peace."
