Description: Communities around Long Island Sound depend on safe, healthy waters to propel a

$9 billion economy based on tourism, boating, fishing and plentiful seafood. But excess nitrogen threaten the Sound’s water and marine life.

Join us as Chantal Collier, director of The Nature Conservancy’s Long Island Sound Program, presents the Conservancy’s recently completed new research on the sources and negative effects of nitrogen loading in our waterways.

The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion on what local steps are needed to restore healthy conditions for marine habitats to recover and thrive. The evening’s panelists will include State Representative Jonathan Steinberg, Harbor Watch Director Dick Harris and Earthplace Executive Director and Westport Green Task Force member Tony McDowell.
