Paul Newman Stamps Launch Friday

The star of many movies including Cool Hand Luke and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid will soon grace stamps.

Beloved actor turned philanthropist Paul Newman will soon grace United States Postal Service Forever Stamps.

The stamps will be available Friday Sept. 18. They can be pre-ordered in sheets of 20, blocks of 10 and blocks of four.

The stamp was designed by Derry Noyes and the photograph was done by Steve Schapiro in 1980.

Newman starred in many critically-acclaimed movies including Cool Hand Luke, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

He co-founded Newman’s Own food brand, which has donated more than $430 million to charity. The company as created along with Westport neighbor A.E. Hotchner and first started out as a joke, according to his obituary.

His SeriousFun Children’s Network has helped more than 600,000 children across the world, according to USPS.

One of the SeriousFun camps is The Hole in the Wall Gang camp located in Ashford, Conn.

Newman was also a race car enthusiast and his teams place fifth in the 1977 Daytona race and second in the Le Mans race in 1979, according to his obituary.
