Pedestrian Killed In Westport Car Crash Identified By Police
A man is dead following a Saturday night crash in the 500 block of Riverside Avenue, Westport Police said.
WESTPORT, CT — The pedestrian killed in a car crash in Westport late Saturday night has been identified as a Norwalk man, Westport Police wrote in a news release Sunday.
The crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Riverside Avenue, where police said 54-year-old Matthew Balga was struck by a southbound vehicle. He was taken to the hospital but died shortly after arrival, according to police.
"The Westport Police Department along with the Westport Community extends our thoughts and prayers to the Balga family during this difficult time," the department wrote in the news release.

The person driving the vehicle remained at the scene to speak with officers and is "fully cooperating" with the continued investigation, police said.
