Photo Show of a Natural Phenomenon You've Never Seen!

One-Woman Show by Westporter Nancy Breakstone Opens Saturday, Nov. 10, in Rowayton

Westporter Nancy Breakstone opens her largest one-woman photography show “Impressions in the Sand,” this Saturday, November 10, at Brendan’s 101 in Rowayton with a public reception from 6 to 8 p.m.

Shot in Costa Rica, “Impressions in the Sand” features 34 photographs capturing the intimate relationship between the ocean and the beach.

Breakstone explains: “My photographs show the natural art created by the receding tide of the Pacific Ocean on a volcanic beach. The ocean is the artist. The sand is its canvas. The receding tide cuts these images in the sand, and I shoot them. The patterns are shown exactly as I saw them, although sometimes in black and white or with a splash of color added.”

“These photographs show a common natural phenomenon that few people have ever seen before,” Breakstone adds. “They are both realistic and abstract, but people are nearly always amazed to discover they are all photographs of sand.”
