Injured Cyclist Led To Closure Of Sherwood Island In Westport: Update

The waterfront state park, which is off Exit 18 of I-95, has since been reopened on Tuesday.

WESTPORT, CT — A police investigation involving an injured bicyclist on Tuesday morning resulted in the temporary closure of Sherwood Island State Park in Westport, according to Connecticut State Police. The park has since been reopened.

In an email to Patch, a state police spokesperson said that Troop G was notified of the injured cyclist, who was on the Sherwood Island Connector, at about 6:25 a.m.

"EMS was also dispatched," the spokesperson wrote. "One patient was transported to an area hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. Based upon the initial findings, this incident has been categorized as a 'medical assist' call as the patient’s injuries did not result from a traffic collision."
