It's going to be a girl for Fox 61 traffic reporter Maggie Slysz and her husband, who are expecting their first child early next year.

Slysz is a six-year veteran of the station, and she and her on-air family had a little fun with the gender reveal on Monday morning's broadcast.

She served her co-workers cupcakes, and one of the lucky anchors - who turned out to be Erika Arias - would reveal pink frosting inside the cupcake to signify it's a girl. See the Fox 61 Twitter video below.

"We're very excited to share it with all of you, and obviously with my work family," Slysz said.

In a statement to Patch following the broadcast, Slysz reiterated those sentiments.

"We are overjoyed and blessed to share that we are expecting a baby girl!”

While we don't yet know what the child's name will be, one thing is for sure, she will have Connecticut roots.

Both Slysz and her husband are Connecticut natives; she grew up in the New Britain area, and her husband in Middletown.

Slysz also graduated from Central Connecticut State University, and she is a former newspaper reporter for both the New Britain Herald and The Bristol Press.
